Update

Hi Everyone,

Well, my friend says this one must be a girl because she's given us nothing but drama.

Everything was fine. Heartrate was fine, growth was fine, and today, we could even recognize her features (head on left, arm sticking up in the middle, foot on right)

Ironically enough Lewis sleeps the same way ;)

He had no explanation for the bleeding. He could tell it wasn't related to the friable issue. His best guess was perhaps the placenta separated a little (from what, I don't know) and the cervix opened to let that blood out, but he said today everything was shut tight the way it should be. But even at that, the cause was just a guess-it was just some kind of freak thing, but it had no lasting effects on baby.

Thank you for your prayers. It's been an emotionally exhausting several days, so we're off to go rest.

  1. So glad all looks good...and guess what? I am having a girl and she caused me soooo much grief in the beginning. We will see. Relax....enjoy the fact that she/he is doing well and all looks good. Sometimes this just happens...actually...about 25% of women experience some bleeding in the 1st trimester....you may just be part of that group (as I was).

The comparison of the baby and the dog was too cute!

  2. I'm so thankful to the Lord that all is well with your baby - and I prayed that He would stop your bleeding episodes throughout the remainder of this pregnancy...I know this is getting emotionally exhausting for you guys! But, your trust in Him is so encouraging each time your faith is tested! :)

  5. Jen, the doctor was talking about the placenta separating from the uterus. The body is amazing in its ability to correct itself, isn't it? I'm so glad that everything looks ok now.

  7. Thanks Emily! I was so exhausted that I didn't remember to ask what it was separating from. Is It supposed to do that?

  8. No, it isn't supposed to separate until after the baby is born. Occasionally it separates early, during labor, and that is an emergency because the placenta's connection to the uterus is what supplies the baby with blood (and thus oxygen). It sounds like your situation was just a frightening fluke, partial separation only, and thankfully your body was able to repair itself.
